At Abigail Allen Media, we don't just teach games. We facilitate the evolution of your communication. Whether you are here for fun or want to practice your public speaking, try a new style of acting, pick up a new hobby, or just meet some new folks around town, applied improv is a fun way to connect and learn about yourself and those around you. Here are a few groups I've worked with:
-
Executives on media training.
-
Public Speakers looking for confidence.
-
Sales Teams wanting to pivot faster.
-
First Responders practicing split-second collaboration.
-
People who just want to have fun and play games.
Expect the Unexpected.
The Heritage of "Yes, and..."
Improv as we know it didn't start in comedy clubs; it started as a social tool. In the 1920s, social worker Viola Spolin developed "Theater Games" to help immigrant children in Chicago cross cultural and language barriers. She realized that through play, people stop "overthinking" and start connecting. In the 1950s, these games evolved into professional performance, but the core mission remained: using spontaneity to build community and solve problems in real-time.
The Modern Professional Power-Tool
Today, improv is no longer just for actors. It is a "soft skills" gym for the world's leading companies. Organizations use these workshops because they simulate the high-pressure, unpredictable nature of the modern workplace in a safe, low-stakes environment.
Picture This
The Professional Edge
Presentation & Sales: Learn to read the room and respond authentically rather than rehearsing a script.
The Crisis Response
Agility & First Responders: Practice decisive action and collaboration in high-pressure, unpredictable scenes.
The Human Connection
Small Talk & Morale: Build the social muscle to turn awkward silences into genuine connection.
The Executive Edge
Leadership & Media Training: Master the art of the "authentic pivot." Whether you're facing a press conference, a boardroom challenge, or a high-stakes interview, improv builds the executive presence needed to lead with calm, credible authority—even when you don't have a script.
The Ecosystem of Innovation
Team Building & Collaboration: Improv is the ultimate team sport. It teaches the "Yes, And" philosophy—accepting a colleague's idea and building upon it—which eliminates the "No, but..." culture that kills innovation.
I AAM Human
Agility in the Face of the Unexpected: In an AI-driven world, the most valuable human skill is pivoting. Improv trains your brain to stay calm and creative when the "script" of a meeting or project suddenly changes.
Short Arms, Big Impact
Presentation & Sales Skills: Great communicators don't just memorize lines; they read the room. Improv teaches you to listen deeply and respond authentically, making you more persuasive and relatable to clients.
Inner Spark
Unshakable Confidence: Silence the inner critic and find comfort in the unknown. Improv isn't about being "perfect"—it's about trusting your instincts. By practicing spontaneity in a safe space, you build the social courage to speak up in meetings, take creative risks, and show up as your most authentic self in any room.
